On July 23–27, 2025, in Porto (Portugal), lecturer Marta Garbaczewska, together with students Laura Hryniewicz, Alicja Czubko (Faculty of Graphic Arts), and Anna Cholawo (Faculty of Painting), took part in the international Blended Intensive Program (BIP) in Porto. Students from Italy and Spain also participated in the project. The theme of the project focused on the relationship between humans and the ocean, as well as artistic explorations and sustainable ways of coexisting with the marine landscape. During their five-day stay, they completed an intensive program of workshops and field activities. Participants had the opportunity to take part in study trips, which became an inspiration for further creative work. Over the following days, they focused on outdoor artistic activities, experimenting with various media duch as photography, video, drawing, assemblage, and sculpture, while using ecological and found materials.
An important element of the project was also reflection on sustainable artistic practices and the creation of ephemeral forms in public spaces. The project also included outdoor and studio-based graphic and photography workshops conducted at the partner university, ESAP (Escola Superior Artística do Porto – P PORTO 08). Works created using lithography, collography and cyanotype techniques resulted from the workshops. One of the workshops was co-led by Marta Garbaczewska, a lecturer from the Faculty of Graphic Arts.
As part of the programme, classes were held to develop the artists' intuition and perception, encouraging experimentation and discussion about the creative process. The project concluded with a presentation of the final works and a collective reflection on the outcomes of the activities. Taking part in the BIP in Porto was a valuable artistic and cultural experience. It enabled participants to develop technical skills and deepen their reflection on the role of art in fostering human connections with nature and the wider world.
